Galentine's Day is observed on February 13, the day before Valentine's Day, This day celebrates platonic friendships, usually among women. Galentine's Day began with Leslie Knope, a character portrayed by actress Amy Poehler on Parks & Recreation. The sitcom aired from 2009 to 2015, but the show's legacy lives on in this holiday.
I was fortunate to celebrate this day with wonderful friends. We gathered a day early due to an impending storm. Each of us brought something healthy to share. We had an appetizer, salad, entree and dessert.
To end our wonderful Galentine meal we had a chocolate fondu made with non-dairy chocolate nibs from the Bulk Barn. The beauty of making a fondu is it is served with healthy fruits and dipped in melted chocolate. Fondues also support mindful eating. Who doesn't love to dip their favourite fruit, lean meat, and/or vegetable in a Fondue dipping sauce?
