"Reviving the Classic: Bits and Bites Recipe with a Healthy Twist"

Updated: Aug 25, 2024

The magic of the holidays never ends, and its greatest gifts are family and friends. - A

Christmas is when we get together with family and friends and visit while enjoying our favourite treats. Bits and Bites have always been my favourite Christmas snack. I often describe myself as salty rather than sweetie. Please give me a snack or appetizer over a dessert every day. In my journey of living life over cancer, I am actively looking for ways to bake and cook tried-and-true favourites in healthy ways.

This Bits and Bites recipe uses olive oil instead of butter. I haven't eliminated butter from my diet, but I often use olive oil as a substitute. Butter contains 63% saturated fat, while olive oil contains only 14%. Olive oil also contains heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and antioxidants. So we can feel good to add olive oil to this old holiday favourite.

Not sure if I will make them or just wait for my neighbours to share. LOL. Seriously, I love these and I am sure that the olive oil would not change the taste. Good idea.

What a good idea. I’m making mine next week. I’ll definitely try the olive oil!
